We would like to take this opportunity to introduce the Centre to your school and invite you to consider its many attractions as a destination for a group excursion. At Yongergnow your group can come and learn about the conservation of that rare and unique bird, the malleefowl and its environment.

The centre houses a fabulous interpretive display called ‘Fowl Play’ which tracks the establishment of the community of Ongerup and the gradual decline in numbers of malleefowl in the area through land clearing practices.

The bushland surrounding Yongergnow is peaceful and home to many species of wildflowers. There are two short walking trails which take in the beauty of the mallee plus a bush tucker garden which are accessible to all age ranges. After some light exercise, visitors can enjoy the view from the cafe as well as light snacks and lunches. Group meals can be organised with prior arrangement.

We are very happy to offer an exclusive presentation on the malleefowl and guided tour to the aviary to hear all about the birds from our very knowledgeable local volunteers. Please note however, Yongergnow will be closed on Tuesdays and Fridays until further notice.

Opening hours: Tuesday to Saturday from 9am to 4pm

Closed: Sunday & Monday
